What is Aerovik coaching?

A personalised, individual session tailored to you (by video call, or in person depending on the area) where we look at your starting point, your goals and your budget, and leave with a concrete plan: the gear you need, where and when to fish, and how to prepare your first Big Game days.

If you are new to Big Game

Stepping up to offshore fishing is daunting: expensive gear, huge fish and a lot of contradictory information. In your session we cover the essentials to start smart:

  • Gear: the rod, reel, line and terminal tackle you actually need for your area and target species — and which purchases can wait. How to build a capable setup without breaking the bank.
  • Areas and seasons: where and when each fishery happens (bluefin tuna, marlin, swordfish…) and which one fits your level and availability.
  • Licences and regulations: the permits you need in Spain and Portugal, quotas and catch rules (especially for bluefin tuna).
  • Safety and physical preparation: harnesses, deck gear, how to fight a big fish without getting injured and what to expect from your first battle.
  • The day-to-day essentials: clothing, sun protection, seasickness, what to bring on board and what to leave at home.

Chartering: your Big Game day with no surprises

  • Canary Islands — blue marlin, billfish and tuna for most of the year.
  • Northern Spain (Bay of Biscay) — albacore, bluefin tuna and offshore fishing from the Cantabrian ports.
  • Other areas (Azores, Madeira, Mediterranean…) on request.

Who coaches you

Rubén Savedra has spent more than a decade dedicated to Big Game: hundreds of fishing days between the Bay of Biscay, the Strait, the Canaries and the Portuguese coast, working with charters, crews and sport fishermen of all levels. He knows the gear, he knows the areas and, above all, he knows the mistakes we all make when starting out — and how to avoid them.
